Is individuality fading because of it? In the street, at home, work, everywhere, mobiles are our constant companion. If the system stopped functioning how would we cope? Have we become the tiny figures in the drawing reaching up for what?
I draw & paint people more than anything else.
It could be said that what most affects us - our emotions & feelings, are invisible. We can't actually see happiness, despair, love, hate, rage, but we can certainly feel them & see their effects in others & ourselves. I look for the feelings & emotions of a situation, rather than its appearance, Context matters - whether someone is alone, in a group or in a public or private place. When working I rely on the visual influence of other artists, intuition & imagination. I want to know what's happening in society. I value the importance of community & individual freedom which governments ignore at times.
The relentless advance of AI is concerning. But social media gives artists access a wider public than ever before. And people can view art & artists like never before. Getting the balance right will take time.
